Victory: Montgomery County cancels the M83 highway!
After decades of diligent advocacy, community members in Montgomery County have finally deleted a proposed new highway from the County’s Master Plan of Highways and Transitways!
The proposed highway in question was the M-83, the Mid-County Highway Extended, which was a six-mile, planned-but-unbuilt, six-lane highway with a $1.37 billion price tag. It would have cut through park land and drinking water sources; damaging water quality, increasing greenhouse gas emissions, and spending enormous financial resources that could go toward public transit instead.

W.R. Grace moves forward with chemical recycling - but community pushes back
In Howard County, the Cedar Creek community’s fight to prevent W.R. Grace and Co. from constructing a pilot chemical recycling project 230 feet from neighbors’ homes has seen two major developments.
The bad: on June 19th the Maryland Department of the Environment approved Grace’s air permit to construct their facility. Let our Attorney General defend the Bay
Last week, I testified at hearings in Annapolis to support Senate Joint Resolution 5 and House Joint Resolution 3, which give Maryland’s Attorney General the authority to decide to sue the federal government over actions or inactions that affect Marylanders.
Under the current system, we elect our governor, our legislature, and our attorney general. Our attorney general can respond to lawsuits and can pursue legal action if they have permission from the governor or legislature. Since our attorney general is directly elected by the people, we feel that the they should have the power to pursue
