Clean Water Action is excited to share our 2023-2024 Pennsylvania Environmental Scorecard which we did in partnership with Conservation Voters of PA, Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter and Clean Air Action Fund!
Too often the general public doesn’t know about the environmental actions, good and bad, that take place each legislative session. We believe that democracy works best when the public understands the legislation that impacts our families, our air, our water, and our health, and uses that information to engage their elected officials and hold them accountable. That’s where the scorecard comes in. See where your state representative and state senator stood on important environmental and democracy votes taken during the most recent legislative session.
The 2023-2024 legislative session was the first time in over a decade that the House and Senate were controlled by different parties. While the Republican controlled Senate maintained their agenda of preventing a transition to a clean energy future and rolling back protections, the Democratic majority in the House blocked these efforts and also made small but meaningful steps forward. Unfortunately, the slim one seat majority in the House led to an overly cautious approach by leadership that prevented more significant environmental progress.
We hope you find the scorecard another helpful tool in our shared fight to chart a better path for Pennsylvania’s environmental future.
