This week we gather with family and friends to give thanks and reflect on the past year. Though the past few weeks have been tough, as I think about 2016 and look forward to 2017, I am full of gratitude for Clean Water Action members.

The next President and his polluter-friendly Congress have pledged to support a sweeping Dirty Water agenda. Remember our big Clean Water Rule victory to protect drinking water sources? They want to reverse it. Then they plan to start dismantling the EPA, the Clean Water Act and other fundamental protections for our water and our health.

Protect Maryland from fracking
Hydraulic fracturing or fracking has become quite the hot button issue, not just in the entire country, but also especially in Maryland. This invasive and dangerous method for obtaining natural gas could soon find its way to the state. In 2015 the Maryland General Assembly passed a two-year moratorium or ban on fracking. However this temporary ban will be lifted in October 2017 and the Hogan administration seems more than eager to move forward with fracking in the state once the moratorium is lifted.
