A Year with Clean Water
As 2017 comes to an end, I want to take this time to thank you for supporting our work through donations and calls-to-action. The letters and emails your give us online or at the door give grassroots credibility when we talk to your representatives about the issues that matter to you - whether it’s forests in Frederick or antibiotics in Annapolis.
Here are some highlights of what you have helped us accomplish this year:

A New Plan for Anne Arundel County in the Works
Anne Arundel County has started the process to update the General Development Plan. The General Development Plan (aka Plan 2040) is the vision for what Anne Arundel County should become. It sets the groundwork for future decisions on land use and zoning - where new homes and businesses go - that have an enormous impact on local and regional water quality. We want to make sure that the plan addresses improved transportation, protection of the environment, and sustainable development.

Train Tunnels through West Baltimore
On Wednesday, the Baltimore City Council held an investigational hearing on the proposed B&P Tunnel expansion through West Baltimore. For the past few years, the Federal Railway Administration tasked Amtrak, MDOT, and Baltimore DOT with finding a solution to the constraints of the existing B&P Tunnel underneath West Baltimore: its narrowness and disrepair slow down and sometimes disrupt Amtrak and MARC passengers traveling betwen Baltimore and DC. But residents of the neighborhoods above the proposed new tunnel have been sounding the alarm, concerned that the proposal could concentrate air
