2017 Legislative Preview
In Maryland, the General Assembly meets every year for ninety days, from January to April. During this time, the State’s legislators introduce legislation on a variety of issues and must work together to pass a budget for the year ahead. With the 2017 Maryland General Assembly Session quickly approaching, Clean Water Action is putting together an ambitious plan to advocate for important legislation that will protect and preserve the environment. On Saturday March 19 the Pollinator Protection Act passed the House of Delegates with a strong bipartisan vote of 96-39. The House language is a clean, strong bill with no weakening amendments.

PFAS Chemicals – Protecting Our Drinking Water And Our Health
PFAS are a class of human-made chemicals that very long-lived, which means that they remain in the environment and in humans and wildlife for a very long time. Clean Water is taking on pollution from these "Forever Chemicals" through education, research, working with impacted communities, advocating for legislation and regulation at the state and national level, supporting Safe Drinking Water Act monitoring, holding polluters accountable, and more.

Three years ago, we were part of a coalition to ban consumer pesticides containing bee-killing neonicotinoids (neonics) in Maryland. This law went into effect on January 1, 2018.
Unfortunately, many of our neighborhood stores are illegally selling these products. Store managers may be unaware that they are breaking the law by stocking these products. This is where people like you can help!
