As I look back on 2019, there are plenty of times that it would have been easy to get frustrated, throw my hands up, and lose hope. But I didn't -- and Clean Water members and supporters had a lot to do with that.

It's a basic ideal of democracy: everyone should have a vote and a voice to share their thoughts with their elected officials. But the need for candidates to court major donors to win elections can skew these relationships and give those with bigger pockets a bigger voice.
