Offshore wind companies agree to invest millions in Maryland
A few weeks ago, the Public Service Commission declared that the two offshore wind companies vying for Offshore wind Renewable Energy Credits could move forward with their plans to construct the nation's first utility-scale offshore wind farms off the coast of Ocean City - provided they met certain requirements designed to make sure that these projects benefit Marylanders as much as possible. Last week, both companies agreed to these terms - bringing Maryland a huge step closer to having a reliable, long-term, climate-neutral supply of energy spinning off our coast.

Meeting Green Neighbors in Baker Park
Emily, Caitlin from the Potomac Conservancy, and I spent last weekend in downtown Frederick at the Green Neighbor Festival. This two-day gathering for environmentalists, gardeners, advocates, and families was planned by Hood College’s Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies (CCWS) and the Friends of Baker Park to promote environmental sustainability and “green” practices to protect land, water, and energy resources. 2017 Legislative Preview
In Maryland, the General Assembly meets every year for ninety days, from January to April. During this time, the State’s legislators introduce legislation on a variety of issues and must work together to pass a budget for the year ahead. With the 2017 Maryland General Assembly Session quickly approaching, Clean Water Action is putting together an ambitious plan to advocate for important legislation that will protect and preserve the environment. There’s no getting around it: this world can be a scary place, and as parents and caregivers, we do whatever we can to shield our children from harm. From proper sleeping positions in infancy to talking about safe sex, we are always striving to control for and eliminate threats to our kids’ health and well-being.
Some threats are harder to identify, though, and this is the problem that parents and caregivers face as we attempt to navigate a sea of toxic consumer products and choose which ones are safest for our kids.
