As I look back on 2019, there are plenty of times that it would have been easy to get frustrated, throw my hands up, and lose hope. But I didn't -- and Clean Water members and supporters had a lot to do with that.

"Closed Means Closed:" the 311 system in Baltimore City and pollution
On Thursday October 22 at 2:00 pm, I attended the Baltimore City Council committee’s hearing on Bill 19-0163R, an informational hearing 311, the language behind closure of a service request, and improvement of the 311 system. The hearing began with Councilman Pinkett showing three examples of illegal dumping where the service request for them had been closed, and the site inspected, yet the garbage dumped was still present. Minnesota's 2016 Legislative Session in Review
As the brief 2016 legislative session ended, it was clear that this session would end like the 2015 legislative session did, riddled with missed opportunities to protect Minnesota’s environment and public health. The legislature managed to pass a $182 million supplemental budget bill that included environment and natural resources, and agriculture provisions. We’ve been keeping an eye on Congress to keep them from destroying critical environmental programs through the budget process. We’ve been working for groundwater sustainability in California, stopping the Bureau of Land Management from selling off thousands of acres of public land in Texas to drilling companies, promoting responsible agricultural practices in Minnesota and California, winning safer policies for toxic flame retardants in Massachusetts, and so much more in
