Support Small Businesses in Their Time of Need
We love our partners in our ReThink Disposable program. Those businesses have worked hard to eliminate their use of single-use food ware by switching to reusable food ware, and have also helped to educate their customers about why it is so important to move away from our disposable culture. And we’re crushed that many of these businesses, these friends have been deeply impacted by over the past 6 weeks.

What Clean Water Action Means to Me
Earth Day has always had a special meaning for me – a birthday for Earth and a call to action to do what we can to protect it. In 1970, I organized the very first Earth Day event at my school in Oakland. Eschewing the bus, I enlisted a crew of friends in a bike caravan to ride 10 miles to school. Alarmed by the oil spills along the coast, and the poisoning of wildlife and humans from DDT, my classmates and I led a day long teach-in. Clean Water Advocates Applaud Immediate Statewide Moratorium on Water Shutoffs to Protect Californians
SACRAMENTO, CA - Clean Water Action, Community Water Center, Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability, NextGen California, and Natural Resources Defense Council released the following statement today in response to the Governor’s Executive Order N-42-20:
“Gov. Newsom’s Executive Order N-42-20 recognizes that access to safe, clean
COVID-19 pandemic threatens water shutoffs, poses bottled water scarcity for vulnerable Californians
“We applaud those utilities who have not only placed a moratorium on shutoffs during the pandemic, but which are turning the water back on for those whose water service was turned off prior to this crisis,” said Jennifer Clary, Water Program Manager at Clean Water Action. “Those who were struggling before this emergency hit need help even more now. We urge the governor to ensure that all residential water providers follow this example.”
