Hickenlooper Not the Only Government Official Trying to Frack Colorado
By Gary Wockner, Colorado Program Director This piece originally appeared on Huffington Post Over the past few weeks, Colorado's Governor John Hickenlooper has gotten a lot of negative attention. First, for telling a U.S. Senate committee that he drank Halliburton's frack fluid; second, for threatening to sue the City of Fort Collins for its ban on fracking. But Hickenlooper isn't the only government official trying to frack Colorado. With the election coming up on Tuesday, November 6 th I think it is important to stress why we need voters in the 31 st district to re-elect Rep. Steve Santarsiero. Steve has been a true environmental leader in the PA State House since he was first elected in 2008. On the issue of fracking, which voters in Bucks County are surely well aware of, Steve has been
Talking to the Candidates about Safe Chemicals in Michigan
By Jessica Harshfield, Michigan Intern Pressing for chemical reform Only a few days remain until Election Day on November 6th and this season is a particularly busy time – we’re raising awareness about toxic chemicals in children’s products. Clean Water Fund and our partners have been speaking with candidates about the need for policies that make products safer for children’s use. In September, I had the unique opportunity to accompany Clean Water’s Policy Director to a meeting with a candidate for Michigan State House of Representatives. We were there to discuss a key issue, children’s
