Monday March 21 was “crossover day” in the Maryland General Assembly, an important milestone on a bill’s path to becoming law. A bill that makes the crossover deadline by passing one chamber is guaranteed consideration by the other chamber, so this is the surest path to seeing your legislation enacted.
On Saturday March 19 the Pollinator Protection Act passed the House of Delegates with a strong bipartisan vote of 96-39. The House language is a clean, strong bill with no weakening amendments.
The Senate had already passed its version of the bill on March 9, also with a strong bipartisan margin of 32-14, but including a floor amendment that unnecessarily complicates the bill. Therefore we are asking the Senate to support the House version of the bill when it comes back to them this week.
Take action to tell the Senate to support the House version of the Pollinator Protection Act!
