It’s vital that we have reliable data to best understand this PFAS "forever chemical" crisis. We need to know where PFAS is showing up in our water and in what quantities. This work includes monitoring lakes, rivers, ground water, fish, and – of course – drinking water.

When our water is monitored for PFAS, communities can make informed decisions on their resources, investments, and future planning decisions with regards to their water, their health, the environment, and infrastructure.

The Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are putting significant effort in to monitor the PFAS levels throughout Minnesota. That’s where we step in to help – we use these results to help educate communities on how to protect themselves. We offer free Healthy Homes presentations, host town halls, and engage in other sorts of community-focused events to support those with PFAS present in their water.

We’re grateful for this strong team that works together to support you and your families. We will continue to hold the legislature accountable to ensure that our agencies are able to continue this vital work. We will fight for laws that are enforceable, community-focused, and equitable.

Properly monitoring PFAS means healthier communities for Minnesota. To support proper monitoring we need your voice alongside us to advocate for funding and the most up to date science. We can accomplish this together!
