The legislative session is moving quickly in every direction. This year, we're on the defensive trying to stop bad bills from being heard. Sometimes the best offense is a good defense.

We have a full legislative agenda that is focused on ensuring good policy is protected, and bad policy never sees the light of day. See the complete list of legislation we've taken a stance on below, or keep reading for some highlights from our staff.

  • Morgan has her first hearing testimony under her belt! Seen in the image above, she used her degree in Environmental Science to explain the dangers that the herbicide paraquat dichloride poses to human health and our water supply. Watch the hearing HERE where paraquat is the first bill on the agenda (Morgan's testimony starts around 16:55). She’s also working on an innovative bill with Senator Seeberger to codify Maximum Contaminate Limits (MCLs) for PFAS chemicals, which are the limits on how much of the toxic chemicals can be in our drinking water.
  • Alongside coalition partners, Kyle is fighting bad AI data center bills and supporting rigid and robust guard rails for data centers. He’s also working to pass a two-year moratorium on the construction of these facilities to give time to implement those guard rails. See more on data centers here.
  • Avonna is fending off attacks to Amara’s Law that are coming at us left and right. Most attacks are trying to change definitions of key phrases within the law, like which chemicals count as PFAS chemicals, and what counts as a “currently unavoidable use” for PFAS and PFAS-containing materials. Weakening these definitions would allow companies to dodge regulations and use more toxic chemicals that are proven to poison our water, our environment, and our health.
  • Maria is working on reducing e-waste and battery waste. She’s also engaging directly with the community with the Minnesota Repair Project that addresses electronic repair, clothing mending, and woodworking/furniture repair.

Beyond the legislature, we have our sights set on Election Day 2026. We are a nonpartisan organization; we focus on supporting candidates who have a track record of supporting clean, healthy, and affordable water.
