We are still reeling from our conference that happened last weekend, Saturday, April 28th at The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, in Edison. We enjoyed sharing the work we are doing to protect New Jersey’s environment and appreciated learning about the organizing people are doing to make a difference in their communities. We were honored to have First Lady Tammy Murphy give an excellent keynote address, followed by an engaging environmental Q&A with DEP Deputy Commissioner Debbie Mans.
"Democrats and Republicans alike have recognized that drilling anywhere in the Atlantic is a threat to our coastal communities, our oceans, and the pollutants that get into ocean water don't particularly care about state lines. What happens off the coast of Virginia, the Carolinas or even Florida would impact us just as much," said Murphy during her address.
The Women's Leadership Panel with Elizabeth Juviler, Organizer, NJ 11th For Change; Amanda Nesheiwat, Environmental Director, Town of Secaucus; and Kate Triggiano, Chair, Red Bank Environmental Commission was insightful and inspiring.

Congressman Pallone also attended the event in support of our surprise Lifetime Achievement Award for David Pringle, Clean Water Action's former Campaign Director. David was honored for his 40 years of service (25 with Clean Water Action) to protecting the environment and our health from pollution and wrongdoers. Congrats, Dave!
We worked to make the event as sustainable as possible. Clean Water Action's Rethink Disposable program helped to replace single-use disposable plastic and foam throwaways with reusables, while green vendors highlighted many ways you can go sustainable right at home and offered amazing eco-friendly products for purchase. Vendors included Beautycounter, Citizen’s Climate Lobby, Clean Water Fund, Eco Pool Drain, Food & Water Watch, Isagenix, Shaklee, Sustainable Haus, The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, and The World is Your Dumpster.

- Beach Yoga Fundraiser for Clean Water: Saturday, May 12th, 10 - 11 am at The Anchor's Bend in Asbury Park. Enjoy yoga by the ocean while raising funds for Clean Water Action's ReThink Disposable program to reduce single-use disposable plastic and foam pollution that litters beaches and harms our ocean and marine life. $10 for yoga or $25 for yoga and brunch.
