Environmental Leaders Cheer Gov. Murphy’s Signature on the Strongest Single-Use Waste Ban Bill in the Nation
Trenton – A coalition of environmental groups applauded Gov. Murphy’s signature today of A1978/S864, now the strongest law in the country to reduce single-use waste to clean up our communities and the environment. The legislation passed the NJ Assembly 48-24-7 and the Senate 26-12 in late September. The legislation, which will go into effect in Spring 2022, bans single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food service ware, allows plastic straws on request, and phases out paper bags at large grocery stores.

Election Day is Over. What Now?
Breathe.
Election Day has come and gone and we are pretty much where we expected to be -- in the waiting room. We may be here for a couple days, maybe even longer.
This is OK, this is how it should be.
Because every vote counts.
Voters came out in record numbers this year -- the biggest turnout in more than a century. Since so many people voted early and voted by mail, it’s going to take little while to count every vote. It’s incredible. So many people made their voices heard because we are hungry for change, we are ready to take hold of our future, to restore and protect our democracy, to act
