Don't Let Texas Make Voting Even Harder
The ability to participate in free and open elections is a cornerstone of democratic government. States should focus on protecting the freedom to vote, not placing additional barriers to voting. Unfortunately, instead of ensuring that all voices can be heard, leaders in the state legislature are working hard to pass anti-voter bills.
Texas already has some of the most restrictive voting laws in the country in elections among all states. Yet Republican leaders in the Texas Legislature are fast-tracking bills that will enact even more barriers and restrict Texans’ freedom to vote.

Tell the Texas Legislature to Say NO to the Stealth Tax on Wind and Solar Energy
Texas legislators want to give the oil and gas industry a handout. House Bill 433, filed by State Rep. Ken King, would impose a new tax on all sources of electrical generation in Texas except natural gas. This would give an unfair economic advantage to a fuel which is a leading driver of climate change and whose extraction requires the use of vast amount of water and leaves much of this water polluted with toxic chemicals. The cost of green energy such as wind and solar would be artificially increased, and these increases would be passed on to ordinary ratepayers.
