Say No to Artificial Turf at Crocker Amazon Park
There are no real benefits to artificial turf — only serious drawbacks. We’re asking San Francisco residents to send a message to the Recreation and Parks Department saying that they should not install artificial turf on the playing fields at Crocker Amazon Park.
2025 Year in Review: ReThink Disposable in California
It's been another successful year for the ReThink Disposable program, and we want to thank our Board, our members, and our valued supporters for trusting us to do this work.
We wrapped up a four-year contract with StopWaste where we worked together to reduce single-use disposable foodware in Alameda County. We've done multiple conversion case studies with local businesses over the course of this contract — the most recent a five (5) restaurant study in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, where we found that even a simple straw and sauce cup conversion saves the restaurant $694 annually and
Clean Water in the 2025 Virginia General Assembly
The 2025 Virginia general assembly session was a wild ride. It started with a water crisis in Richmond and a snow storm, and on top of all that the fire suppression system malfunctioned because of the water issues in the General Assembly building, which made it inaccessible for a time. All that together meant a late start to an already short 46 day session, and a new federal administration and uncertainty around federal funding for state projects resulted in even more chaos.
The session maintained the frantic energy it started with. More than 1900 bills were introduced, a total of 917 bills

ReThink Disposable Collaborates with Schools to Bring Reuse to our Youth
K-12 students spend half their year in school, with up to 60% of students choosing school-provided lunch options. Pre-K and daycare kids are in these educational settings year-round. Unfortunately, many schools serve meals on disposable cafeteria foodware such as polystyrene foam trays and plastic utensils.
