We Need Congress to Pass a "Clean" Debt Limit
Clean Water Action has joined The American Federation of Teachers and 140 other organizations in calling on Congress to pass a clean bill that carries out the routine task of raising the debt limit to cover federal spending to which it has already committed. Today Clean Water Action testified on HB161, the Northeast Maryland Waste Disposal Authority Sunset Act. This important bill sets up a review by the state Department of Legislative Services to consider whether or how this quasi-state agency, created by the state in 1980 to plan and finance trash incinerators, should continue.
