2025 Maryland Priorities at Crossover
On Monday, Maryland crossed a critical legislative deadline called “Crossover.” Except in extraordinary circumstances, a bill must have made substantial progress by this deadline to keep moving forward. Since I started my new role as Clean Water Action's ReThink Disposable Coordinator, I’ve been talking with many business owners and people in the community about the very exciting topic of waste, in particular, single-use disposables like plastic straws, cutlery and bags and foam take out containers. Measuring Our Impact on Reducing Street Litter in Alameda, California
We are counting and characterizing the litter on the busy commercial downtown street, and will return in one year after 100 new businesses become ReThink Disposable Certified to see if there has been a measurable reduction of litter over time in the downtown commercial district.
ReThink Disposable Case Study | Borough of Red Bank
In 2024, ten New Jersey municipalities passed Skip the Stuff Ordinances, which has restaurants only provide single-use cutlery and condiments upon request for take-out orders. Red Bank’s Green Team, with the help of Clean Water Action, created educational flyers in English and Spanish and provided outreach to businesses and residents.
