Working To Keep The Great Lakes State Great: Michigan 2023 In Review
2023 has been a year of change and a year of some big victories in Michigan, from historic investments in our state budget for water infrastructure, addressing water affordability, and ensuring that all Michigan schools and daycare centers have lead-free drinking water systems to repealing “No Stricter Than Federal” and continuing to play a lead role in the ongoing fight to shut down the Line 5 pipeline. Our movement is built from the bottom up and without your ongoing support, none of this would be possible.

Massachusetts currently has two bills pending in the Legislature focused on putting a fair price on carbon pollution. Combined the bills have 79 co-sponsors — more than one-third of the Legislature. For the past few months, Clean Water Action members have been writing, speaking, and rallying for offshore wind in Maryland. And today, the Public Service Commission surprised advocates and business leaders alike by approving (PDF) both proposals to build offshore wind farms in the Atlantic waters of Maryland. Today’s decision by the Public Service Commission to make a bold investment in offshore wind is a victory for Marylanders across the state concerned about climate change and air pollution, but especially for Baltimore.
