We did it! Our top priority bill—to ban PFAS in food packaging, firefighting foam, require the state to implement a take-back program and shift to a safe, fluorine-free foam was signed into law!
Session finally ends in Minnesota with wins for Clean Water!
The Minnesota legislative special session is concluded - and we're happy to announce several victories!
First and foremost: Minnesota will now join a number of other states in banning PFAS in food packaging starting in 2024! PFAS are “forever chemicals” that do not break down in the environment and carry with them health risks like cancer and decreased immune response when people are exposed. We have been working to address the many sources of PFAS contamination and to our environment once PFAS containing packaging is thrown away. We appreciate the work of the original bill sponsors Rep. For a hot V-day, hold the flame retardants
For Valentine’s Day this year, I want a hot date. So back off winter storms, late nights at work, the flu, or anything else that might keep me from my mission.
Chemical industry, I’m talking to you too! Keep your Chlorinated Tris, PBDEs and Firemaster 550 away. I’m looking to fan the flames of love, and your fire-retardant chemicals have no part in my V-day plans.
In fact, keep those fire-retardants away every day. Cancer, thyroid disease and nervous system damage aren’t very conducive to hot dates either—there is absolutely nothing sexy or hot about chemotherapy. And how about infertility

Despite the past year’s very challenging circumstances — a hostile anti-environment administration and the coronavirus pandemic’s devastating health toll, social and economic disruptions — 2020 proved to be surprisingly productive, in each of Clean Water Action’s priority program areas.
Community Letter -- Pass the PFAS Action Act
The science is clear: PFAS have been linked to serious health problems through decades of animal, worker, and human studies. Unfortunately, EPA has failed to take steps to restrict air and water releases, reduce PFAS in our tap water, or clean up the nation's most contaminated sites. H.R. 2467 will set clear deadlines requiring EPA to do just that.
