In a win for current and future public health in California, Governor Gavin Newsom has signed into law AB 1817, the Safer Clothes and Textiles Act, which will curb the flow of toxic PFAS chemicals into Californians’ clothes, bodies, and environments.
California green lighted more irrigation with oil wastewater
Last week, regulators approved the expanded use of oil wastewater for irrigation of crops in Kern County. The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board), unanimously approved a Waste Discharge Requirement (WDR) permit for California Resources Corporation (CRC) to sell 21,200 acre feet (6.9 million gallons) of oil and gas wastewater from the Kern Front Oil Field to the North Kern Water Storage District annually. Reducing Litter and Achieving Zero Waste by Charging for Take-Out Cups
Surveys were conducted with 95 café owners and 461 customers across San Francisco that sell to-go beverages in disposable cups. The goal of the survey was to determine what current practices and behaviors businesses utilize to incentivize BYO behavior, current consumer habits and reasons, and opinions on future options.
