FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC - February 11, 2026 - Clean Water Action joined partner coalitions across the country to voice strong opposition to the EPA’s proposed repeal of the Endangerment Finding. This critical safeguard affirms that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare — the legal foundation for national climate protections. Rolling it back threatens clean air, clean water, and the health of our communities. We stand united to defend these protections and hold the EPA accountable.

STATEMENT FROM CLEAN WATER ACTION
Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized its decision to rescind the Endangerment Finding—the legal basis that requires EPA to protect us from the pollution that causes climate change. This finding gave EPA the authority to take action to fight climate change and to limit harmful emissions from major sources like trucks and vehicles, oil and gas operations, and power plants.

It is astounding how blatantly this administration is ignoring our bedrock environmental protections to cater to the fossil fuel industry and far-right extremists. By rescinding the Endangerment Finding, EPA is disregarding overwhelming scientific evidence that pollution associated with greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health. This decision will accelerate the climate crisis, cause more extreme weather, make our air dirtier, harm our health, and put our communities at risk.

Clean Water Action strongly opposes the rollback of the Endangerment Finding and urges EPA to follow sound science to protect our health, our environment, and our future.
