Washington, D.C. -- The Senate Judiciary Committee concluded hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the Supreme Court last week. Clean Water Action remains opposed to Judge Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Clean Water Action President and CEO, Bob Wendelgass released the following statement:

"The confirmation hearings were an embarrassment. Republicans are hiding documents from the public and rushing to confirm Judge Kavanaugh because a full airing of his record would show the public that he is an unacceptable choice for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. What we have learned is that Judge Kavanaugh is a partisan operative. We already knew, from his time as a circuit court judge, that he will defer to corporate interests and is hostile to the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to protect our water and health. Last's week spectacle  makes it clear -- the Senate must reject his nomination.

Throughout his career Judge Kavanaugh has ruled for coal companies and other polluters,  attempted to restrict EPA's ability to protect human health and the environment, and sided with attempted to allow states to undermine federal laws to protect our air and water. We can't afford another justice who will put the needs or corporations and special interests before the health of our communities."
