Each May, National Clean Air Month raises awareness about the importance of clean air and the health impacts caused by pollution. Originally launched in 1972 as Clean Air Week, the observance expanded to a month-long campaign in 1994.

Poor air quality contributes to asthma, respiratory illness, heart disease, and other serious health conditions, especially for children, seniors, and communities already overburdened by pollution.

This month, we’re calling for stronger protections, environmental justice, and real solutions to air pollution across New Jersey and beyond.

Option 1:
Every day, over 27,000 people have asthma attacks in the U.S. That number will get worse unless state leaders step up and take action. www.cleanwater.org/actions/port-warehouse-pollution #CleanAirMonth

Option 2:
Clean air is under attack. This #CleanAirMonth, leaders must act now to protect public health. Take action:

Option 3:
The American Lung Association’s “State of the Air” report shows too many children, nearly half, are breathing unhealthy air.

At Clean Water Action, this reinforces why our work on clean air and advocating for environmental justice in overburdened communities impacted most by NJ’s Goods Movement System matters, especially as EPA rollbacks threaten clean air protections.

For the month of May, in recognition of #NationalCleanAirMonth, we’re standing with communities nationwide to protect clean air for every child.
