You – yes, YOU – have a say in your political party’s platform and which candidates they endorse.
Clean Water Action endorses candidates for local, state, and federal office – you can help us by attending a precinct caucus, becoming a voting delegate, and supporting these candidates to receive the party endorsement. When we send strong candidates to the legislature (and beyond) to pass pro-water laws, we all win!
Precinct Caucuses
Precinct caucuses are local meetings organized by Minnesota’s political parties. They’re the first step in a series of gatherings where parties choose delegates, endorse candidates, and outline their party platforms.
This year, precinct caucuses are being held on February 3, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

Senate District Conventions
Senate District Conventions are where candidates seek endorsement to run as the official candidate for the party. Other organizing unit business also takes place here, like sending resolutions onto the State Party Convention.
Each district will have its own location, time, and date - so check with your party!
As a delegate, you can:
- Vote on which candidate will receive party endorsement
- Vote on party platform issues
- Become a state-level delegate, where you can support federal candidates for party endorsement as well as candidates for Minnesota Constitutional offices (Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, etc.)
What to expect at a District Convention:
- Most conventions take a few hours. Each senate district will have its own agenda and rules for procedure.
- 2026 conventions will be endorsing for State Senate and State Representative. Local seats like city council, school board, or county commission may be on the agenda, too.
- Your convention may hold elections for district/organizing unit positions like chair, secretary, or treasurer.
- Speeches! Members of Congress and other elected officials may show up to talk about the work they are doing.
- Meet neighbors and community members who share your values.
- Discuss issues you think should be a part of your party’s platform.
- Become a delegate to your party's State Convention.
