Calling all change-makers and aspiring advocates! Clean Water Action is now accepting applications for its summer 2024 internship program. Gain hands-on experience in the realms of politics, communications, and advocacy, while working alongside our dedicated professional outreach team. As an intern, you'll actively engage the public, igniting their passion for critical national and state campaigns to protect clean water, combat climate change, expose the impacts of oil and gas production, and discover safer alternatives to toxic chemicals.
Nichole Keway Biber
Dr. Nichole Keway Biber is a tribal citizen of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians (Waganakising Odawa), and is part of the Turtle Clan (Mishiike Dodem). Her family currently resides in East Lansing, where she earned her PhD in English from MSU. Nichole began working for Clean Water Action as the Mid-Michigan Campaign Organizer in September of 2023, in a continuation of her efforts as a Water Protector to Shut Down Line 5. She is motivated to help stand against all such threats to traditional lifeways and the well-being of every community in the Great Lakes water basin and beyond
Erik McCleary
Erik began working on environmental organizing with Clean Water Action in 2019 as a canvasser in our Ann Arbor office, soon after becoming a Field Manager and MIchigan Deputy Field Director in 2020. Prior to his arrival in Michigan Erik studied at Hampton University in Virginia, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, and worked on several electoral campaigns in Virginia, Oakland, Florida, and MIssouri.
Jennifer Schlicht
Jennifer began her work with Clean Water Action as a canvasser in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office. After working as a field and office manager, she began working on our National Communications team in 2020 and moved to her current role of Michigan Communications Manager in 2025. Jennifer also volunteers in the local community for voting access and rights, as a Legal Observer, an English conversation tutor and welcoming volunteer for refugee families, and with environmental conservation and education projects as a Michigan Conservation Steward and Master Rain Gardener. Curt Moultine
Curt began his canvassing career with the Michigan Citizen’s Lobby in August of 1989. He became Canvass Director for Georgia Citizen Action in March of 1991 and continued in the same role for Clean Water Action in Lansing, Michigan from 1993 until 2001. Among his accomplishments as a Canvass Director, Curt promoted over a dozen staff members who went on to become Canvass Directors and Program Directors. In his current role with the Hudson Bay Company, Curt works with the Michigan Clean Water Action field canvasses. He currently resides in Charlotte, Michigan with his wife Carol. They have 3
