Update: The PFAS Prevention Package was introduced in the 2022 legislative session. all but one of the 8 bills made it into the final Environmental Omnibus bill in the House. Like most bills this year, it did not pass by the end of session. However, with the issue of these harmful “forever chemicals” continuing to gain visibility and concern, we expect to keep making progress on state policy next session. The Minnesota Legislature is gathering now for their 2022 session. Last year Clean Water Action helped to pass a ban on PFAS (The Forever Chemicals) in Food Packaging and successfully worked

Session finally ends in Minnesota with wins for Clean Water!
The Minnesota legislative special session is concluded - and we're happy to announce several victories! First and foremost: Minnesota will now join a number of other states in banning PFAS in food packaging starting in 2024! PFAS are “forever chemicals” that do not break down in the environment and carry with them health risks like cancer and decreased immune response when people are exposed. We have been working to address the many sources of PFAS contamination and to our environment once PFAS containing packaging is thrown away. We appreciate the work of the original bill sponsors Rep. My name is Emily Woodcock, and on Sunday, 4/11, I had my 10 year anniversary as the Field Canvass Director in Clean Water’s Ann Arbor, MI office. I’ve been with Clean Water since Sept. of 2004, and I’ve been field organizing since July of 2002. Like most people, by early March of last year, I was starting to become pretty concerned about Covid-19. We were having conversations within our team about canceling volunteer nights and other events, and about changes we might need to make to the core of our work – the canvass.
