In honor of World Asthma Day, May 6, Clean Water Action is calling all advocates and local community members in Elizabeth to come learn about the connection between diesel truck pollution from NJ’s freight and goods movement industry and asthma. We will also be pressuring local and state legislators to support the ACT Rule (Advanced Clean Trucks) and reject legislation (S3817/A4967) which aims to roll back the ACT Rule.

NJ Finance & Development Associate | Hybrid in Elizabeth, NJ
Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are seeking a full-time Finance & Development Associate to support our programs, operations, and fundraising efforts in New Jersey. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental campaigns while ensuring smooth financial and administrative operations. The Finance & Development Associate will work closely with the New Jersey team to manage administrative and financial processes and help coordinate fundraising activities, including events, donor appeals, and grant applications.
Maher Akremi
Maher Akremi is a dedicated and flexible program manager with more than five years of experience managing programs, initiatives, and expanding networks. He is skilled in leading diverse teams, overseeing complex projects, cultivating stakeholder relationships, and implementing organizational strategies. In his prior role as program manager for the Organizations in Solidarity program he led a network of 300+ organizations and individuals across the US and world in collaboratively grappling with the legacy of racism and white supremacy in the peace and security field. Marta was raised in the Washington DC area but has lived in a variety of places, now calling the Jersey Shore home. After college, she traveled the country as a math and science teacher, including beautiful places such as the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and Puerto Rico.
Later, she became a project manager for a large engineering firm as an environmental geologist, investigating and remediating contaminated sites. These experiences bring a wealth of knowledge and passion as the NJ Zero Waste Specialist. From her work with ReThink Disposable, she was named 2024 Honorable Mention Activist of
