Simmons University Engages Students in Talks about Toxics
I’ve learned a lot about the dangers of exposure to toxic chemicals through flame retardants at Clean Water Action. They’re everywhere in our homes: in mattresses, furniture, even children’s toys.
This is a really important issue to be aware of, but there is a real lack of awareness amongst my fellow college students.

Exciting news! Massachusetts is on the cusp of a big victory for public health - and we need your help to get there. The Massachusetts House and Senate voted on New Year’s Day to protect children and firefighters from toxic flame retardants! For this to become law, the Governor must sign the bill by January 11 th. A victory for our health! Mass. House votes to ban toxic flame retardants
Late Friday afternoon the Massachusetts House voted to ban 10 toxic flame retardants in children’s products and household furniture! This will be a huge step forward to protect the health of children and firefighters – but first the Massachusetts Senate has to approve the bill and send it to the Governor’s desk before the clock strikes midnight on Monday.
