In 2018, Michigan voters went to the polls and voted overwhelmingly for candidates who promised to clean up our drinking water, hold corporate polluters accountable, end the ongoing threat of Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline, and protect our Great Lakes. So far in the 100th state legislature, positive steps in that direction have been few and far between. This 2020 report provides an overview of Clean Water Act regulations governing onshore produced water discharge, evaluates several aspects of its oversight, and makes recommendations for both EPA and state regulators to improve protection of water resources and increase transparency.

The purpose of this essay is to shed light on the issue of basement backups of raw sewage in the homes of Baltimore City residents. There are many different aspects of this issue that will be addressed including health impacts, climate change, and reimbursement for households. One of the essential parts of addressing this issue starts with identifying areas that are most impacted.
