Maryland’s General Assembly begins today, and for the first time since 2018, Clean Water Action is not asking for your help in ending subsidies for burning trash under Maryland’s Renewable Portfolio. Your tireless support over the years made a difference, and the General Assembly ended these subsidies last year. Thank you!

With autumn in full swing and Halloween behind us, it’s the perfect time to give your pumpkins a second life through pumpkin composting!
Each year, Americans toss more than a billion pounds of pumpkins into the trash, but composting them keeps organic waste out of landfills and incinerators while creating nutrient-rich soil for our communities.

Today, just two months after local governments' Fiscal Year 2026 budgets were passed, the Baltimore City Planning Commission kicks off the planning process for the Fiscal Years 2027-2032 Capital Budget. So, we're starting now to advocate for capital infrastructure spending on Zero Waste infrastructure that Baltimore City needs to equitably and cost-effectively transition away from trash incineration. ReThink Disposable Collaborates with Schools to Bring Reuse to our Youth
K-12 students spend half their year in school, with up to 60% of students choosing school-provided lunch options. Pre-K and daycare kids are in these educational settings year-round. Unfortunately, many schools serve meals on disposable cafeteria foodware such as polystyrene foam trays and plastic utensils.
