Last week a film crew from France was in Minnesota. Their goal was to gather information about Amara’s Law. They wanted to understand how Minnesota was able to pass such an impactful law while weaving in the personal stories of those of us who have worked to pass the law and have been impacted by PFAS in one way or another. Our state is setting an example for the world. France, Japan, England, Australia have all reached out to work with us and understand more about Amara’s Law. Now is not the time to slow down—we’re just getting started!

In advance of Taxpayers’ Night, the City Council’s annual public hearing on the proposed City budget, Clean Water Action and the South Baltimore Community Land Trust have released an analysis of the FY26 proposed budget showing that it fails to invest in Zero Waste programming and infrastructure despite significant new revenue and surpluses in solid waste. In 2024 following the City's publication of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan, the South Baltimore Community Land Trust, represented by the Environmental Integrity Project and Chesapeake Bay Foundation, filed a Civil Rights Act Title

Today, the Baltimore City Council holds its annual public hearing on the Mayor's proposed budget, known as Taxpayers' Night. This proposed budget fails to invest in Zero Waste, and we're advocating that the City Council amend the budget to recognize the new revenue it includes that was demanded by South Baltimore Land Trust in their Civil Right Act Title VI complaint, and invest those funds in Zero Waste programs that DPW has requested funding for but were not included in the budget.
