For over a decade, Maryland has misclassified trash incineration - the most polluting method of producing energy - as "renewable," diverting subsidies away from real renewable energy like wind, solar, and geothermal power to give extra profits to polluting incinerator companies. In a year where Governor Moore's new climate plan (which endorses ending subsidies for incineration!) calls for $1 billion per year to meet our climate and energy goals, we can't keep wasting money on incineration that could be supporting new renewable energy instead. National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week In PA - Allegheny County
Every October, Clean Water Action works with allied environmental organizations here in Pittsburgh to put on a series of events in recognition of National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. As you may know, lead exposure continues to harm families in Pittsburgh, especially in Black communities, where aging housing, schools, and water systems carry the highest risk. This year is no different! This year's lead safe awareness week kicks off tomorrow and goes on until October 25th.
