Marissa Urias
Marissa was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area her entire life, and is the Communications Associate at Clean Water Action, Oakland. In the past, her work in communications has helped to push legislative change on a local and state level, including managing the communications and public outreach of campaigns that resulted in the passing of new state laws and local community leaders winning elections. Avonna received her bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Minnesota and her master’s degree in political management and advocacy from The George Washington University. She currently serves her community as a member of the Fridley School Board and Fridley Charter Commission member. Avonna became the Minnesota State Director of Clean Water Action Minnesota in November 2022, having worked in politics for almost two decades.
