The Fruits of Our Labor: Recent Clean Water Action Victories in Rhode Island
Being a canvasser for Clean Water Action is an inherently fulfilling job. We are able to educate people on important issues, facilitate residents communicating with their elected representatives, and take part in a struggle that is much bigger than any of us as individuals. However, it can also be a tough job dealing with inclement weather, the occasional less than supportive person, and a ton of walking. We will all breathe easier once New Jersey’s Environmental Justice Law is implemented. Signed by Governor Murphy two years ago, the law gives the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) the power to deny permits to polluting industries that would further harm overburdened communities all across the state.
