Broad Coalition of Climate & Environmental Organizations Condemn House Passage of Dangerous Cuts in Interior & Environment Appropriations Bill
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4821, the House Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill. In response, over 60 advocacy groups warn that the House is leading Congress to a government shutdown by passing an appropriations bill that would eviscerate environmental protections, decimate historic climate progress in the Inflation Reduction Act, green light harmful poison pill anti-environmental riders, and much more.

Working at Clean Water Action from the Queer Perspective
Clean Water Action is celebrating our 50th anniversary and Pride Month with a special blog post! We are incredibly fortunate that, in our most recent diversity survey, 36% of our staff identified as queer. Our LGBTQ+ Caucus had the chance to connect with some longstanding queer colleagues to hear about their experiences. REI--Will you put our health and planet first?
Recognizing this alarming public health and environmental issue, Clean Water Action and allies at the Mind the Store campaign have been urging REI and other retailers to ban PFAS in outdoor apparel. To date, there have been more than 110,000 petition signatures and emails from REI customers, letters from more than 100 local, state, and national organizations calling on the company to lead the outdoor apparel industry away from the entire class of PFAS.
