State elected officials and environmental community make final push to Gov. Wolf to close state methane rule loophole
HARRISBURG – Today, leading state elected officials and members of the environmental community held an event in Harrisburg calling for immediate action by Governor Wolf and the Department of Environmental Protection to close a loophole for low-producing wells in the state’s draft methane rule before the final form is brought to the Environmental Quality Board later this summer. Using Clean Water Act Discharge Permits to Protect Drinking Water Sources
The Clean Water Act has many tools that can be used to address sources of pollution that impact drinking water sources. This current guide focuses on how Public Water Systems can use Clean Water Act National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System pollution permits, which control surface water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge into surface waters, to improve and protect the quality of drinking water sources.
