If you're like me, you are watching more cute animal videos during the pandemic than ever before. A lot of my favorites include animal mamas and babies, especially when mamas take heroic steps to keep their babies safe.

The New Jersey Bag and Styrofoam Ban bill, A1978/S864, took a big step forward today passing out of the Assembly Appropriations committee. If passed by full senate and assembly, the bill will ultimately ban single-use carryout bags and polystyrene foam food containers, as well as require that single-use plastic straws be provided only upon request.

The Rhode Island General Assembly looks to be getting a bit greener after last week’s elections.
This past Tuesday, September 8th, Rhode Island held our statewide primary election. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this election looked a bit different than in past years. Usually, we know who the winners are by the end of the night or early the next morning but this year, we had to wait a few days. So we spent a few days biting our nails and constantly refreshing the Board of Elections results page. But it was worth the wait.

Putting drinking water first in Frederick County
This summer, Frederick County proved itself to be an environmental leader. By passing the Climate Emergency Resolution and two critical bills to protect our forests from development, the county has demonstrated that it's taking its responsibility to fight against and prepare for climate change seriously, and has enacted the strongest forest conservation measures in Maryland. Kudos to all of the organizations and individuals who have been fighting for years to bring these changes into reality!
