Recognition for our Campaigns to End Plastic Pollution
Clean Water Action’s ReThink Disposable team is excited to have received the Bow and Arrow award from the California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC). This award recognizes our program’s mission to bring together stakeholders in the restaurant industry to reduce the consumption of harmful single-use plastics. Creative partnerships are at the heart of our work and we are honored by this recognition. We will continue to build collaborative relationships to shift communities away from disposable foodware so we can tackle the plastic waste crisis and preserve water quality for future generations
Victory! Pittsburgh Enacts Single-Use Bag Ban
Victory! Just in time for Earth Day, Pittsburgh City Council unanimously passed a ban on wasteful single-use plastic bags. The ordinance is expected to reduce distribution of nearly 110 million plastic bags annually and decrease plastic litter. Clean Water Action is grateful to have played a part in making this happen. Thank you to every member and supporter who took action! Pittsburgh is now the 6th municipality in the commonwealth to pass this kind of policy, joining Philadelphia, West Chester, and others. Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund 2019 Annual Report
Throughout 2019, our programs defended essential environmental and health protections, while strengthening the grassroots base of people who care about our water and want to see it protected — now and for future generations. We continue to lay the groundwork to reverse the worst of the extreme cuts and rollbacks advanced by polluters and their allies in government. Together, we can restore our nation’s historic commitment to fishable, swimmable, drinkable water.
