Minnesota 2023 PFAS Prevention Package: Amara's Law
In 2023, Minnesota passed the strongest PFAS prevention legislation in the country. The legislation was named Amara's Law after Amara Strande, a young woman who grew up in an area contaminated by PFAS and diagnosed with an exceedingly rare form of cancer. Amara advocated and testified in support of the bills banning all non-essential use of PFAS chemicals, requiring manufacturers who are selling products in Minnesota to disclose if PFAS chemicals are present, and to close a loophole in the 2019 bill that ended the use of PFAS in firefighting foam.
Comments on proposed regulations Credit for Carbon Oxide Sequestration
We are deeply concerned that the proposed regulations will continue to allow claimants of the Section 45Q tax credit to benefit from the production of fossil fuels without adequately demonstrating secure geologic storage of captured carbon, as the law requires.
Letter to Congress, Re: Support Funding for Lead Service Line Replacement
While most of us know about the lead contamination in the tap water of Flint MI, few people realize that lead-contaminated drinking water is a nationwide problem, affecting every state. Action is long overdue. We urge the House of Representatives to support the Tlaib/Kildee lead service line funding amendment.
