Big progress on sewage backups in Baltimore
Great news! When we rallied at City Hall last November and joined the City Council at a hearing to investigate DPW's policies around sewage backups, everyone heard loud and clear that DPW's policies around sewer backups and its Expedited Reimbursement program weren't working. Baltimore City DPW Promises Improvements to Sewage Backup Support Program
During a public hearing, the Department of Public Works indicated they plan to lift restrictions for reimbursement and provide direct cleanup assistance to residents who experience sewage backups. Yesterday, concerned residents and local advocates called on the City to improve support for residents who experience expensive and health-hazardous basement sewage backups during a public hearing in the Land Use Committee.
