This year, we will be advocating for: No more subsidies for trash incinerators. Since 2011, trash incinerators have benefited from Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard, which subsidizes renewable energy sources and was designed to move us to a lower carbon energy mix. Unfortunately, trash incinerators are carbon-intensive and pollute our neighborhoods. It's past time to correct this wrong and stop subsidizing this dirty energy source! Happy New Year. William Perry Pendley, an ardent advocate for the disposal and sell-off of public lands, is still acting director of the Bureau of Land Management. In the midst of a disastrous, politically motivated relocation of BLM headquarters from Washington, DC, this first workday of 2020 will find Pendley reporting to work at the agency’s new headquarters in Grand Junction, CO.
