My Summer Canvass Experience at Clean Water Action
My name is Erin Dracup and I’ve spent the summer as a field canvasser for Clean Water Action working on the campaigns to ban toxic PFAS in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
I grew up in Ithaca, NY and currently live in Boston where I attend Boston University and study Health Sciences with the intent of pursuing a Masters in Public Health. I’m most passionate about plastic pollution as well as how low-income communities and communities of color are disproportionately impacted by water quality issues.

This year, we will be advocating for:
No more subsidies for trash incinerators. Since 2011, trash incinerators have benefited from Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard, which subsidizes renewable energy sources and was designed to move us to a lower carbon energy mix. Unfortunately, trash incinerators are carbon-intensive and pollute our neighborhoods. It's past time to correct this wrong and stop subsidizing this dirty energy source! Organics diversion out of landfills and incinerators. Organic waste, like food scraps and other similar materials, are a great source of compost and carbon
