In 2018, Michigan voters went to the polls and voted overwhelmingly for candidates who promised to clean up our drinking water, hold corporate polluters accountable, end the ongoing threat of Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline, and protect our Great Lakes. The purpose of this essay is to shed light on the issue of basement backups of raw sewage in the homes of Baltimore City residents. There are many different aspects of this issue that will be addressed including health impacts, climate change, and reimbursement for households.
