My name is Emily Woodcock, and on Sunday, 4/11, I had my 10 year anniversary as the Field Canvass Director in Clean Water’s Ann Arbor, MI office. I’ve been with Clean Water since Sept. of 2004, and I’ve been field organizing since July of 2002.
Like most people, by early March of last year, I was starting to become pretty concerned about Covid-19. We were having conversations within our team about canceling volunteer nights and other events, and about changes we might need to make to the core of our work – the canvass. By March 13, we had made the decision to pull our canvass from the field.

As I take time to reflect on what we’ve done this year, I’m struck by the tremendous progress we’ve made together. We’ve done a lot in 2018 to ensure a future where all Michiganders have access to clean, safe, and affordable drinking water.
Tell Lansing Lawmakers to Stop Attacking our Water in Lame Duck Session!
The Michigan lame duck legislature is racing to pass attacks on our water before the new legislature and Governor are seated in January. We need all Michigan clean water activists to help fight back by making two quick phone calls, one to your State House Representative and one to your State Senator, asking them to oppose the multiple anti-environment and anti-democratic initiatives that corporate lobbyists have pushed lawmakers to pursue during this backward and unaccountable session.

Scorecard for the 2018 Lame Duck Michigan Legislative Session
The 2018 lame duck legislative session has moved at a record pace. More than 300 bills were introduced since the midterm elections on November 6th. Lame duck sessions are often used by corporate lobbyists and lame duck lawmakers, no longer accountable to their constituents, to push through wildly unpopular legislation in the final days of the year.
