Today, the full NJ Senate is expected to vote on Bill S3688 put forward by State Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Salem) that would give neighboring communities and counties an opportunity to become involved in the siting process through updating municipal land use laws. The bill would require notification to communities that would be impacted by the proposed warehouse application, and give county planning boards the power to approve or deny contested applications.

I am 22 and I have my dream job. In college I majored in environmental studies and focused on environmental justice. And unless I could get paid for activism and volunteer work, I really didn’t see myself getting paid for something I loved doing. Protecting clean water has always kept us busy. We’re rooted in our groundbreaking campaign to pass the Clean Water Act in 1972, and from the moment the Act was signed into law there have been corporate polluters and anti-government ideologues attempting to weaken or subvert the law.
