Keeping Antibiotics Effective - An Update and Call to Action
Last year, we worked with the Keep Antibiotics Working Coalition to mobilize to phase out the practice of feeding healthy animals antibiotics. In the United States, approximately 70% of antibiotics human use are sold for use on animals. These drugs are often fed to animals that aren't sick in order to prevent disease. This routine use of antibiotics contributes to the breeding and spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. These bacteria can then travel off the farm and into our communities.
Ultimately, the General Assembly passed the Keep Antibiotics Effective Act, which passed without Governor

Anne Arundel County has started the process to update the General Development Plan. The General Development Plan (aka Plan 2040) is the vision for what Anne Arundel County should become. It sets the groundwork for future decisions on land use and zoning - where new homes and businesses go - that have an enormous impact on local and regional water quality. We want to make sure that the plan addresses improved transportation, protection of the environment, and sustainable development.

The People’s Climate March in April was one of the landmark environmental events of the Trump era. More than 300,000 people traveled to DC from all over the country to march for jobs, justice, and climate action on the 100th day of Trump’s presidency. Back in February, several environmental and community organizations in Baltimore got together to consider how to engage with the march. This coalition knew that members would be traveling from Baltimore to DC looking for ways to fight back against climate change, and knew that
