What the Unpackaging Alameda Project Means For The Future Of Source Reduction
Over the course of the project, our team trained 27 volunteer ambassadors, 10 student interns, and 24 litter survey volunteers who analyzed disposable food packaging found on Park Street in Alameda before ReThink Disposable intervention. Outside of our interaction with businesses, we developed relationships with members of local government and leaders of community groups.

We appreciate many elements of Worcester’s proposed Clean City Program that will educate the public, create new waste programs, and reduce litter in the city. However, the provision to mandate clear plastic bags for recycling is not going to reduce waste--in fact it is wasteful--and there is little empirical evidence to justify its inclusion.

Protecting Lake Linganore: Frederick City's drinking water
Every summer in Frederick County, Maryland, news hits about algae blooms, sediment, and other pollution in Lake Linganore. Source of nearly half of the drinking water in Frederick City and the central part of the County and an important center for recreation for the Linganore community, Linganore Creek and its 83-square-mile watershed are vital for Frederick County. But historic agricultural runoff, continued construction, and the threat of major development just upstream from the lake all put this drinking water source at risk. Residents of the areas have organized to address these concerns
