Clean Water Action was honored to join over 200,000 people at the People's Climate Movement in Washington DC. Our New Jersey team joined NJ Sierra Club and Bus for Progress in hosting several buses that made the trip from New Jersey to Washington DC. We met so many energized folks, people from every race and age group, who came from all over the country for this one day movement to demand action for climate change and water change. Getting Toxic Sediment out of the Anacostia River
The Anacostia River corridor within the District of Columbia is comprised of 15 miles of shoreline, 1,200 acres of green space, and a string of 10 adjacent neighborhoods on the river’s east side in Wards 7 and 8. Polluted and neglected for decades, the Anacostia River is undergoing a renaissance thanks to years of community advocacy.
We have been working locally in DC, and in particular on the Anacostia River, for many years. Last year, Clean Water joined the Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative (APACC), a coalition of 17 community-based and citywide nonprofit organizations. APACC
2016 had its high points
All across the internet and throughout holiday conversations, everyone seems to be talking about what an awful year 2016 was. Between celebrity deaths and the election of Donald Trump, it definitely had some real black strikes against it. But as I’m looking back on the accomplishments of Clean Water Action in Massachusetts, I’m finding some real reasons to celebrate as well.
